Ch-ch-ch-changes

It's been 5 long months since this website was updated, and much has changed in that time...

Hewlett-Packard (nee Digital Eqiupment Corporation) said goodbye to Tom, and many of his co-workers, in January. He'd been with the company for over 16 years so the separation package was reasonable but with one headed to college and another still in private school, the income loss has been difficult. He started a business, Highlight Video, which produces recruiting films for high school student athletes who are looking to win athletic scholarships to college. His videos have helped students achieve their dreams and we are hoping that it can be a sustainable business.

Laura is doing very well in her freshman year at Bishop Guertin. She settled in nicely in September and quickly developed a circle of friends. After a rather rocky two years at Nashua Catholic, she is taking BG academics in stride and is on the honor roll. She's on the (very competitive) track team and enjoys it. This past winter the team won their seventh straight NH championship, and it is fun for her to be a part of a winning team. Her passion is throwing the javelin but she hasn't had much practice with it this year. We are so happy that she's part of the BG sports experience and know that she will continue to move up in the ranks.

*****Breaking news****** Laura just competed in a 3-school track meet and came in either 2nd or 3rd in the 100-yard dash!

Laura, 2008 Graduation Dance

Kyle is enjoying a spectacular senior year. As team co-captain, he led the BG football squad to a Division II state championship title in November 2008. He is president of the National Honor Society and Varsity Club, and a senior representative on the Executive Student Council. This fall he will attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on a NROTC-Marine option scholarship and will play football for the RPI Engineers. If all goes as planned, he will graduate from RPI in 2013 as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United State Marine Corps and begin eight years of active and inactive duty in service to his country.

In May 2009 Kyle, along with 16 other NH athletes, will be presented with a scholar-athlete award from the Joe Yukica Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame. This is a presitigous award that Kyle is happy to share with his close friend, Andy Vailas.

I remember watching Kyle and Laura as toddlers...I could almost see their brains working to find the right word, figure out a counting problem, or tackle tying their shoes. It is immeasurably exciting to see them successfully pursue their dreams as young adults...
